Art at Brookfield Park Primary School
Our intent at Brookfield Park for Art is for children to:
- have access to a rich art vocabulary
- invetigate artistic influences
- have a chance to develop an innate love of art
- be given opportunities which help them see the benefits of collaboration
- be proficent in using a variety of artistic tools in painting, drawing and printing.
- be able to evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design.
The national curriculum aims are:
KS1
The children shall:
- produce creative work exploring and recording their ideas and experiences.
- become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art craft, and design techniques.
- know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms.
- evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design.
KS2
The children shall:
- create sketch books to record their observations and use them to review and revisit ideas.
- improve their mastery of art and design techniques, including drawing, painting, an sculpture with a range of materials ( for example; pencil, charcoal, paint and clay)
- learn about great artists, architects, and designers in history.
