Art at Brookfield Park Primary School

Our intent at Brookfield Park for Art is for children to:

• have access to a rich art vocabulary
• invetigate artistic influences
• have a chance to develop an innate love of art
• be given opportunities which help them see the benefits of collaboration
• be proficent in using a variety of artistic tools in painting, drawing and printing.
• be able to evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design. 

The national curriculum aims are:

KS1

The children shall:

• produce creative work exploring and recording their ideas and experiences.
• become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art craft, and design techniques.
• know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms.
• evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design.

KS2

The children shall:

• create sketch books to record their observations and use them to review and revisit ideas.
• improve their mastery of art and design techniques, including drawing, painting, an sculpture with a range of materials ( for example; pencil, charcoal, paint and clay)
• learn about great artists, architects, and designers in history.
