Welcome to the Summer Term. Wow, this year is really passing very quickly. Hopefully we will be able to have the full term in school until we finish in July! We have got lots of exciting things planned for this half term. We are learning all about the African country of Kenya in geography, comparing it to where we live in Skelmersdale and seeing what is the same and what is different. In design technology, we are going to design some clothing suitable for the weather in Kenya and the lifestyle there. We are going to be sewing and designing patterns. We will look at the best way to join the clothing using different techniques. With our finished pieces, we are going to make a lovely display outside our classroom.
As we are learning about Kenya, we are going to read a story about a little boy called Adika. The book is called 'Mama Panya's Pancakes' and it tells the story of Adika and his mother going to market and meeting many friends along the way. We are also going to write our own adventure story set in a Kenyan village and in the savannah.
